Reconstructing the decoration of a theatre poses different challenges each time and specific methods have to be devised for each commission.
It is often necessary to study fragments of painting from the past, as was required for the decoration of the Regensburg Stadttheater. Sometimes, all that remains are photographs of the original, as with the new La Fenice theatre.
